As you know, Indonesia is a country with a high level of biological diversity. In this country, there are approximately 1,050 freshwater fish species which about 950 species are found in western Indonesia and Sulawesi and at least 103 species are found. The fish species are characterized by their high levels of endemism. In Sumatra there are 30 endemic species, 149 species in Kalimantan, 12 species in Java and 52 species in Sulawesi. However, many species have decreasing genetic quality. Therefore, it is important to improve the fish quality in Indonesia. How it strategy?

Effectiveness of hCMV, mEF1α and mAct promoters on driving of foreign gene expression in transgenic Zebrafish
ABSTRACT
Highly unsaturated fatty acids (HUFA), especially eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and decosahexaeonic acid (DHA) have long been recognized for its beneficial effect for human health and development. The Δ6 fatty acid desaturase is generally considered to be the rate-limiting factor in HUFA biosynthesis. Here, as the first step of study, we conducted experiment to select an appropriate construct that allows higher expression levels of masu salmon (Oncorhynchus masou) Δ6-desaturase gene in zebrafish (Danio rerio) in order to increase its activity for synthesizing EPA/DHA. Salmon Δ6-desaturase cDNA (sD6) was separately ligated with human cytomegalovirus (hCMV), medaka elongation factor 1α (mEF1α) and medaka β-actin (mAct) promoters.
